I am going to attempt to be Martha Stewart tomorrow.  I can't reveal the details because I don't want to reveal the surprise to the wrong person.  If it works, it will be spectacular.

I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

It's a beautiful night in the District.  It's one of those nights where everything is right in the world.  Even in the face of many uncertainties...for one night it just doesn't matter.  Put it off til tomorrow, and just enjoy the evening - y'know?

I went to see Mutemath tonight.  They're the band you should love, but you didn't know it existed.  So check them out already.  I like "Chaos", Kurt likes "Control" - they're all pretty good.  If you get a chance to see them on tour, all the better.  I know DC tickets were only $15...and totally worth it.  Check out mutemath.com - they've got a video of "Chaos" with footage from the live show.  Seriously.  Check it out.  Amazing.  I've seen them twice in 4 months, and I would go again tomorrow.  Or next week.  You get the idea.

Forgot something earlier.  Work is sending me to Tampa.  For a day.  They need an artist relations-type person to handle Yellowcard at an IRL race in St. Petersburg, FL and Jayme and Megan are both out - which means your's truly is going to Florida.  Wheee!  I'm taking an 8am flight, doing the race/concert thing, staying in a hotel, then flying back home on a 1:30pm.  Nothing like a short little trip for the weekend.  The really funny part is that I'm out the Friday before, flying on Sunday, flying back on Monday (too late to go to work), working Tuesday - Friday noon, taking 1/2 of Friday off, then flying to Cincinnati and taking the following Monday off.  So I'm going to be in the office for about 3.5 days in an 11 day span.  Sweeeeeeeet.

Hung out with a group of friends tonight after church...ended up at Ben's Chili Bowl after also hitting Uno's and Love Cafe...so basically, all we did is eat.  But - I had my first CakeLove cupcake at Love Cafe!  I had a vanilla cupcake with raspberry buttercream and purple sprinkles.  I got lots of compliments about the appearance of my cupcake because it was so darn pretty/cute.  Tasted pretty good too. :)

I've decided I should probably get around to creating a new website.  Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to sit down and sketch out some ideas.  Then, I get to figure out how to make it (I'm a lil out of practice).  Ehh well.  New challenges and whatnot.  It'll be fun, right?

I was riding home on the metro yesterday and thought "it's beautiful - I want to go running."  I thought I might do a loop around our apartment complex...it's about 1.1 miles.  I ended up doing 3 loops (not running, mostly walking with a little jogging.  I'm a little out of shape.) and I am mega sore today.  I was going to go out again tonight, but it's cold and raining.  I do want to start running again.  Maybe actually do a race.  It was so hard to work up to the 5k I was running before...I don't know how I got the motivation.  Time to do it again.  Go team go, right?

So I need a haircut.  I haven't gotten anything interesting in awhile, and I'm trying to decide what I want to look like.  I really like it when my hair is short, but I'm a wuss, so going really short isn't an option.  Going chin length usually makes me look like a Goomba (if you don't know what a Goomba is, you didn't play enough Super Mario Bros. growing up)...so I suppose I should go longer, or find a magician.  Any suggestions?  Should I keep the long?  Attempt the short?

Yes, this is my dilemma of the day.  I need new shoes, darn it!

Good things about today:

1.) The government was on a 2 hour delay, so the metro wasn't crowded.
2.) The metro was having technical difficulties, so I sat on a train and read my book for an hour.
3.) There weren't many people at work,  so I got my mission critical stuff done and left at 4:15pm.
4.) I did my laundry as soon as I got home - I got a washer right away, the good dryer right away, and I got to sit around in my monkey pajamas for the evening...and I now have a pile of clean clothes.

It was almost enough to make me forget that it was Valentine's Day.  Almost.

Sooo....I got sick of the whole "work is my life" thing, and I've decided to correct the situation by doing the following:

*Going to church every week.  Currently helped along by cool people I've been hanging out with at the service and then grabbing food with afterwords.

*Getting involved in something at church.  Rachel and I have an email in to help out with the high school youth group.

*Taking some random class about something that sounds fun.  In other words, I had my first fencing class tonight.  Yes, I did in fact say "fencing."

*Learning a new skill.  Rachel is going to teach me how to knit in the next couple of weeks.

*Restarting an old hobby.  Flute would probably be too loud, so I'm shopping for a bowling alley/league tonight.  I'd also like to bowl with my dad in nationals next spring/summer.  How cool would that be?  Go on vacation with the dad to Reno, chill out, and bowl.  Sounds good to me.

I think that's good, right?  Also, I've been working out with Margot 3 times a week, although I might start going once on the weekends as well.  I also think it's kind of cool that 2 of my activities are based around sports.  Good times.  Maybe I'll get around to playing softball in the summer.

Why yes, that "kerplunk" you heard was my brand new cell phone dropping into my glass of orange juice.

I saw Dave Matthews Band last night from realllly good seats. Sure, it took 4 hours to get there because of some traffic nightmares, and yes, I was only there for an hour....but I was close enough that I could see their facial expressions without looking at the screens - not bad, eh?
